Teaching Philosophy
As I help you achieve your musical goals, my hope is to eventually make myself obsolete to you! I will introduce you to the resources, tools, habits, and concepts you need so that further along in your musical journey, you can hear any song you like and independently make a plan for how to learn it, master it, and have fun doing it.

I pride myself on my ability to work with absolute beginners on harmonica, vocals, guitar, electric bass, and ukulele. Regardless of your musical background, I will meet you where you are at so that as you explore the instruments, you're on your way to making the kind of music you want to make.
Experienced, Compassionate Teaching
I hold a Master's Degree in Social Studies Education from Boston University, and I worked as a high school history teacher for five years. I use best practices for culturally responsive and trauma-informed teaching to make sure every student feels safe, understood, and motivated to take on challenges.
Theory & Improvisation
To me, learning music theory is discovering that there are names for the aspects of music you already hear. I can teach you the language musicians use to communicate with each other and their audience, and how to speak that language playfully inside a groove.
